Faringdon is a residential development in Rolleston, Canterbury that contains a large number of facilities available for the community to utilise. RICH Landscapes was contracted to design a concrete pump track that would fit the environment and tone of the community, providing an area for residents to engage in wheeled-play activity.
Located in the Westwood section of Farringdon, not far from Christchurch City, the design integrates a stylised pump track into the environment which contained an existing pathway. The design extends the pathway to close in the wheeled-play area, and utilises tree coverage retain the feel of the park.
The pump track itself is comprised of two loops with a middle-section that flows between both tracks, and allows users access from both the pathway and the road. Both sections of the design cater to varying skill levels, and incorporate an array of purpose-built obstacles and features to give the park a unique feel.
Features of the pump track include:
The design includes seating arrangements throughout the outer area of the park, giving users and community members space to sit while still having a view of the wheeled-play area.

"The facility was elongated due to the characteristics of the site. The Skate Path was a great idea that allows for a 120m long flow line with a diverse range of obstacles."
